Gazebo canopies come in many different styles and shapes. One of the most popular types, especially with the mobile crowd, is the pop up gazebo. They are particularly well suited for outdoor events due to their portability and function.
The biggest difference between the pop up variety and the standard gazebo canopy is the construction of the canopy cover. It is permanently attached to the frame allowing easy setup and take down. This eliminates the need to stretch the canopy cover over the frame each time you set it up. This is quite a time saver as the cover attachment is the most time consuming part of any shade canopy setup. It also allows the canopy to be setup by a single person making them much more useful.
Pop up gazebos provide the same protection from the elements as regular gazebo canopies so there is no sacrifice for the extra ease of use. The fabric covers are made of the same polyester material and UV protected to minimize wear from the sun. The legs also fold up thereby allowing the whole canopy to be stored in a bag that fits inside the truck of your car!
The only drawback to this type of canopy is it’s light weight which makes it more susceptible to movement from the wind. They need to be securely staked to the ground to prevent being blown over in a gust. If the winds get too gusty they should be taken down to prevent the fabric cover from getting ripped or torn.
Pop up canopies are great for all kinds of outdoor activities. They can be taken to the lake or park or just used in your backyard for parties. You could even leave them up in your yard all summer and take them down again in the fall (except during violent weather as I mentioned). I always found them useful when the only picnic tables left were the ones in the sun. I’d just setup our canopy over the table and carry on with our picnic.
Pop up gazebos are so useful and easy to use that everyone should have one in the trunk of their car as you never know when you might need some portable shade.
