Screened gazebos may look wonderful but they do require a lot more care in comparison to open ones. It doesn’t matter what kind of material the gazebo you choose is made from if you want to ensure it lasts for many years to come then you need to take care of it properly. In this article we take a look at what kind of maintenance you will expect to have to carry out to maintain the various kinds of gazebos that have screens today.
Type 1 – Vinyl
These are of course the easiest to care for; in fact they hardly need any maintenance at all. In most cases to keep the screens looking good you will have to on the odd occasion wash them down with some warm soap and water or a mild cleansing solution.
Type 2 – Wooden
These types will need to quite a great deal more maintenance than the previous type. You need to actually be careful about where these are positioned in your garden and avoid situations where moisture could be introduced to the structure. Also make sure that you place it in a position where air is able to flow around it freely. If you have placed yours close to trees, shrubs or bushes then make sure that these are trimmed back regularly to prevent contact with the wood.
Type 3 – Natural or Painted Wood
If you opt for the natural wood screened gazebos make sure that yours is constructed from pressure treated wood. To help keep the woods beauty applying a water repellent sealant to the surface every 2 to 4 years should be sufficient to provide it with the protection it needs from the elements. As for the painted versions wash the surface of them down with a mixture of warm water and mild detergent using a soft bristled brush. Plus every couple of years make sure that you repaint the gazebo.
